This event was created out of the vision of two men involved in the wrestling communities in Oregon and California. Their arguments over who was the better state in wrestling between California and Oregon. These two men had the idea of the best Senior in each weight class from the respective weight classes facing off in a dual meet each year. The two representatives from each state are Bert Van Duzer from California and Harry Mondale from Oregon.
The ORCA dual showcases the best talent in the senior class from Oregon and California wrestlers. The winning team will take home bragging rights and also the trophy "The Dave Schultz Cup." With permission from the Schultz family, this trophy is named after Dave Schultz, a wrestler who lived in both Oregon and California.
